I am 33…going on who knows what as I have been a night-shift RN for most of the last 10 years! My soul is overwhelmed with joy as I am blessed with a job that allows me to share compassion for others. I have a creative side that has been raging inside of me for years and now it is time I open up my semi-private life to the world of blogging and let others get to know me, my repurposing, my home, and my jam-packed garage! Which is filled with wonderful goodies, both junk and treasure, waiting to become something ADORABLE!
Currently, I live in a small subdivision, where you know most everyone, and it just so happens I found a fabulous home with a garage in the FRONT of the house. Yeah, not too smart for a girl that loves to rummage yard sales, auctions, barns, and well anywhere really, in order to throw a magnificent bargain into the car, and eventually in the garage!! I often wonder, which of my neighbors are trying to submit me to be on the show “Hoarders”!!! I hope not. And if I ever do post a picture of my garage, everyone will know that I am finally comfortable with my crazy,crafty-self regardless of how hard I try to hide it!
My name is Heidi and I grew up in the small town of Centerville, TN. I have always had a natural knack for fixing stuff. My friends would tell you today, yes I have the same wonderful friends since elementary school (that is small town for you!), that I am always the one fixing someones jewelry at the lunch table or trying to tie up the rope swing at the creek! And with that girl is the same girl that if I can’t fix something, let’s turn it in to something else! As you will see in post to come, I can create something from nothing and repurpose it into just about anything! It is gratifying to take an object and create something you can Adore!
Speaking of creating things you can Adore! 😉 I have 2 sweet daughters, Ryen and Eryn! Some people who know us would say, how did we have such cute girls!?! Created in Gods own image I say!
They love to help Mommy!
I took Ryen with me to collect some jars from a shed I had bought at an auction with a friend of mine, Willie. Ryen was so excited to help me put 100 canning jars in my car that day. She would get one from the shed, bring it over and say, “Mom, This is a big one! I am strong!” She would find some blue ones and try to run with them in her arms over to me, excited because “I found your favorite ones, Mom!” So proud and so delighted, even in the hot summer heat! I hope she finds her creative side when she gets older.
So How did all this become Virginia BEAN???
I will get to the name on another post, but in short…
I am a country girl at heart. I get my love of the outdoors from my Father, who spends more hours outside than he does in. He sees the works of the Lord in a quiet deer stand or a busy duck blind or on a roaring tractor. I was raised in a house built in the late 1800’s, with 14 foot ceilings, huge Oak doors, that was right off the town square. My Mother loves anything antique. She has taken her 4 kids many of times to the antique store or market, it was like a trip to the grocery these days. Our old home, filled with incredible old decor…
The older the furniture the more sturdy and strong it is. In a sense this is how I came to love things that are old, well-used, and frankly falling apart! I find beauty in the history of where things came from, just as much as the character they show from the craftsman who created them! Repurposing things is my way of recycling. And I hope to share how I spend my time creating things I ADORE, both for myself and now for others!

Looking forward to your future posts!
